At first, I was excited—it felt like recognition for my hard work. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t the right path for me. I wanted to lead teams, not just solve technical problems.

It took me years to pivot because I lacked career clarity and didn’t know how to be proactive about my goals. I thought doing good work would be enough for recognition—but it’s not.
