Unlocking Your Introverted Strengths: Lessons from Stacey Chazin

Have you ever felt like you needed to change who you are to fit in? As an introvert in tech, I spent years believing I had to be more outgoing, louder, and constantly putting myself out there to succeed. But the truth is, success isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about embracing your unique strengths.

In a recent episode of my podcast, From a Woman to a Leader, I had the pleasure of speaking with leadership coach and proud introvert Stacey Chazin. Stacey’s journey of self-discovery is not only inspiring but packed with actionable strategies that can help introverted women thrive in their careers without feeling like they need to pretend to be someone they’re not.

Introversion Is Not a Limitation—It’s a Strength

One of the biggest takeaways from my conversation with Stacey was the idea that introversion isn’t something that holds us back; in fact, it’s an incredible asset. Stacey shared how taking the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment helped her realize that being an introvert wasn’t a weakness but rather a powerful part of her leadership style.

“Once I stopped pretending to be someone I wasn’t and leaned into my strengths, I found greater success and fulfillment.” – Stacey Chazin

We discussed how introverts bring a lot to the table—deep thinking, empathy, and the ability to form meaningful connections. The challenge is learning to harness those strengths in environments that often reward extroversion.

How to Identify Your Strengths as an Introvert

One of the most valuable insights Stacey shared was her use of the Appreciative Coaching framework. This approach focuses on identifying what’s already working well and building on it instead of trying to “fix” perceived weaknesses.

Here’s how you can start identifying your strengths today:

1.Reflect on past successes – Think about moments where you’ve felt proud of your work. What strengths were you using?

2.Gather feedback – Ask trusted colleagues or mentors what they believe are your strongest qualities.

3.Prepare for meetings – I personally like to take some time before meetings to plan my contributions and prepare questions in advance. This helps me feel more confident and ensures my voice is heard.

“The more I leaned into my introversion, the more impact I was able to make—authentically and confidently.” – Stacey Chazin

Practical Tips for Thriving as an Introvert in the Workplace

Throughout our conversation, I also shared some of my favorite tips for making the most of your introverted nature in the workplace, including:

Networking with intention – Instead of trying to meet everyone at an event, I pick three key people per day and focus on building meaningful connections. I also follow up immediately on LinkedIn to keep the conversation going.

Owning your quiet power – You don’t need to be the loudest in the room to have influence. Thoughtful contributions and intentional presence can have a lasting impact.

Setting boundaries – As introverts, our energy is precious. It’s important to carve out quiet time to recharge and stay productive.

“Confidence doesn’t come from changing who you are; it comes from embracing your true self.” – Stacey Chazin

Your Introverted Strengths Are Enough

If there’s one thing I hope you take away from this episode, it’s this: you don’t have to pretend to be someone you’re not to succeed. Lean into your strengths, stay true to your values, and recognize the incredible leadership qualities that come with being an introvert.

Whether you’re in a leadership role or aspiring to take on more responsibility, you have everything you need to thrive. The key is to appreciate your unique strengths and use them to your advantage.
